exNYE 2016: The third annual New Year's Eve hosted by exwhy
with special guests:
"Other People Records just became the lucky label to sign the fast-rising Atlanta natives known as exwhy. The band’s debut record, The Feels, is due later this year. The album was recorded by Kenny Muto at Tomuto Sounds and mixed by Beau Burchell of Saosin fame.
-You may not have heard of exwhy before now, and if that is the case you shouldn’t worry. The band is practically brand new, having only released a single so far in 2015, but anyone on the label side of the business has been fielding pitches from the group and people who support them since their first demo surfaced in late 2014. I’ve personally known of the group since January, and I figured it would only be a matter of time before someone scooped them up.
exwhy’s debut album, The Feels is a 10-track introduction to what the band has to offer, which is something the label’s co-owner Tom Williams found particularly interesting. 'When Jesse [Barnett, the other half of OPR] and I first heard exwhy, we loved the vibe and knew instantly it was a good fit for our label. I find that the record is extremely dynamic and that they bring life to a very tired sound.'" – Under The Gun
-Slowriter’s music is a creative flow of all sorts of sounds, clips, vocals and beats that form an entirely unique blend of music. This ultra-creative, synthy artist samples moments from movies, other songs, books, etc, and turns them into something really interesting to listen to. The mastermind behind Slowriter is Atlanta’s own Bryan Taylor. And as his biography states, his songs are “infectiously catchy and strikingly quirky.” Taylor has been in the music game for more than half a decade now. He recorded and released his first album, What Keeps Me Sane, in 2009. In 2011, he followed up his debut with a self-titled EP. Then, in 2012, Slowriter dropped TrailBlazer, which is a great description of what his music is. It’s so different from anything else out there, it’s certainly in a category of it’s own- and we dig that! - Atlanta Music Guide
-Capital Arms is a rock band from Atlanta. The band formed in 2012 and immediately started laying down the musical groundwork for their first release.
It began as an emotional outlet for everybody involved; a reaction to the stagnant scene in which they were entrenched. It eventually grew into something of its own, something that demanded to be heard.
With an immense array of influences ranging from pop, indie, dance, rock and roll, punk, and more, they are a big band with a big sound. It is a band that grows and evolves tirelessly.
