After producing Yo Gotti’s “Act Right” & “Bout Me” for Wiz Khalifa , San Francisco Bay Area born rapper/ producer P-Lo is cultivating the sound of the bay area on a national level. Growing up as a Filipino-American, music was the center-piece of the household. P-Lo recalls going through his father’s vinyl music collection and listening to artist such as Carlos Santana, The Beatles, and Eric Clapton to name a few. This early encounter with different genres of music was the launching pad to P-Lo’s Musical career. After listening to Kanye’s debut album “College Dropout” P-Lo decided to take his love of music and put it into action.

He began making beats at home with computer speakers, which eventually led him to start the Heart Break Gang with IAMSU. P-Lo and IAMSU met in 2005 and forged the invasion as a production team shortly after, they later pulled in artists such as Skipper, Kool John and Jay Ant together to form the Heart Break Gang. Adding to P-lo’s credentials as a producer, he has made music for IAMSU and heart break gang along with landing 4 tracks (STU, Tweak is Heavy, Bout Me, & Smokin Drinkin’ )on Wiz Khalifa’s Cabin Fever 2. He also has the lead single “Act Right” off of Yo Gotti’s upcoming “I AM”. As a rapper/producer P-Lo pushing the boundaries of the next sound coming out of the West Coast rap scene.

Berkeley, California Rapper/ producer/ vocalist Rexx Life Raj (born Faraji Wright) found his love for music by way of his church upbringing and the encouragement of his mother, Linda. While Linda nurtured his creativity, Raj’s father Odis taught him the beauty and challenges of being black as well as the value of hard work. In his youth, Raj endured the death of his best friend Devin as well as the incarceration of his close confidant Funk. Out of creativity, consciousness, and adversity were born the musical stylings of Rexx Life Raj.

Though music may have been his first love, it was not the only avenue at which Raj excelled. His natural athletic ability and incredible work ethic saw him garner a full scholarship from Berkeley High to Division 1 football powerhouse, Boise State University. Raj played offensive line for Boise State from 2008-2012, using football as a vehicle to gain his college education. Amidst questions of why he didn’t turn pro, Raj graduated from Boise with a degree in Communications and subsequently turned his full attention to his budding music career.

This proved the right move, as Raj’s talent built him a buzz that has seen him collaborate with and garner cosigns from artists such as Nef The Pharaoh, IamSu, Sage The Gemini, Cardo Got Wings, YesJulz, and Emilio Rojas. Furthermore, Raj’s music has earned him accolades from press outlets such as Pitchfork, FADER, Noisey, HotNewHipHop, DJBooth, TeamBackPack, GoodMusicAllDay, Berkelyside and more.

While previous project releases have seen him featured prominently on the front pages of major music retailers such as iTunes, Tidal, Google Play and in curated Spotify playlists, “Father Figure” serves as Rexx Life Raj’s official album debut. The project was released June 24th and boasts contributions from artists such as Nef The Pharaoh, Mikos Da Gawd, Julia Lewis, ymtk, and more.

The duality of Berkeley is that it is home to an incredible art culture that promotes creativity, individuality and freedom. Simultaneously, Berkeley is a city with history steeped in activism.. where individuals have come together to affect social change.

Creative but conscious.

Free but moral.

Rexx Life Raj’s epitomizes this duality. His music flows seamlessly from wildly hilarious anecdotes on the trivial to sharply poignant observations on life’s daily struggles.
