Bridges began as singer and songwriter Alex Young’s solo project, but soon evolved into a full fledged rock band, when Young’s former guitar teacher recommended a rhythm section comprised of Chase Cross on bass guitar and David Williams on drums. At their first meeting, the 3-piece experienced immediate musical chemistry, writing a new song in 15 minutes, which became the first single from their upcoming LP. Known for their heartfelt and insightful lyrics, superb musicianship (saxophone and electric guitar round out the live band), and energetic live performances, Bridges continues to wow larger audiences across the southeastern US.
Jacob Davis Martin:
I started as a musician when my grandma decided to gift me one of my Dad's old guitars in the 8th grade. I started writing songs soon after that and haven't been able to stop since. Just before starting college, I recorded my first EP of original songs in my parents basement. No venues were interested in responding to the emails of a helpless 18 year old looking for a release show, so with the help of my dad I built a stage in my own back yard and have had annual concerts since then. Now, after writing and playing for 10 years, I have had oppertunities to record mutiple EPs in studio environments and play at many proper venues, but the DIY spirit that values hard work and community over formal institutions still prevails in my approach to writing, performing, and promoting. For me its about the journey to craft excellent songs and the family and friends that are there along the way. Currently, I'm going to school at Appalachian State to study music industry while continuing to write and perform music throughout the southeast at house shows and songwriter venues.
