Georgia born singer-songwriter and roots-rock artist Cody Marlowe found his inspiration at an early age in the soulful sounds of B.B. King, Merle Haggard, and the Allman Brothers. Marlowe’s songs explore the polarities of good and evil in an intriguing blend of lyrics featuring lost loves and hopeful musings.

His most recent album, “Silver and Gold,” is his third release since his first EP, “Where You Are,” released in 2010 and his first full length, “Eighty Nine,” released later that same year. For the new album, Marlowe teamed up with brothers, producer/drummer Kevin Sellors and bass player Ryan Sellors, to form his new back-up band the Dead Flowers. During the recording process, Marlowe recruited Joey Huffman on organ (Hank Jr., Matchbox 20) and Nathan Bedingfield on electric guitar (Aaron Shust).

“Silver and Gold” is a return to the roots of rock n roll, country, blues, and honest songwriting; reminiscent of Tom Petty and the Black Crowes but with a modern edge inspired by childhood in the 90’s. Expect this album to earn respect from the musicians
of the past while stretching the musical paradigm of a younger generation.

Back City Woods was formed in 2009 by Daniel NeSmith and Michael Collins as a Macon-based studio project. BCW became a high-energy live act in April of 2010 and has since been actively playing the Southeast circuit. This is a band that gives familiar sounds of Americana music with a renewed twist: Bluegrass, Country, Southern Rock, and Blues are all played by musicians who have listened to more than their share of Indie Rock. While their focus is songwriting, Back City Woods have musical chops and know when to bring a full-on jam when the time is right.

In late 2012, Back City Woods finished recording its second EP titled “Around The Bend” at Chase Park Transduction in Athens, GA working with David Barbe and Tom Lewis. Currently BCW is slated to begin their winter and spring dates sharing the stage with Drive-By-Truckers, Drivin’ N’ Cryin’, and The Modern Skirts.

“Sophisticated sounds from the rural heart of Georgia? Rough and tumble sensibilities from bright lights of the big city? Whatever you want to call it, these boys know how to throw a foot stompin’, butt-shakin’ party. They’re serious musicians too and the longer you listen, the deeper you’ll find a medley of influences running.” -The Local 478

One thing is certain, when Back City Woods takes the stage people are always front and center, hoopin’ and hollerin’ and cuttin’ some serious rug… These exciting live shows have made Back City Woods one of the most talked about bands in Georgia’s diverse music scene.
